![]() Press Release: August 17, 1998 Everything2000.com Marks 500 Day Countdown to 2000 by Releasing Survey Results and New Features Aug. 17, 1998--Wednesday, August 19 marks 500 days to year 2000. To commemorate this milestone, Everything 2000, recognized as the leading comprehensive source of millennium news and information, is launching new features and announcing survey results at its Web site http://www.everything2000.com. 74% of respondents to Everything2000 surveys indicate they have not made plans for New Year's Eve 1999 and 87% have not bought tickets to a New Year's Eve 1999 event, cruise or destination. "Clearly, people haven't decided what to do New Year's Eve 1999 despite the abundance of activities planned around the world" says John Locher, founder and publisher of Everything2000.com. "One reason is most of the world's headlining entertainers have not confirmed where they will perform. Many travel and entertainment ticket packages surrounding New Year's Eve are still being assembled." Everything2000.com has expanded to include listings of millennium trademarks and recent news of millennial activities in top US cities. For example, Chicago has embarked upon a three year celebration culminating in a citywide 2000 minute party. San Francisco will host one of six "New America Expos," a "high-tech world's fair" focusing on life in the next millennium. Los Angeles launched a two year millennium project celebrating its cultural diversity featuring a visit from the Dalai Lama. Miami's South Beach will host the largest free admission event in south Florida's history with a sound, light, music, and fireworks extravaganza. Information on events around the world, related links, Y2K news, and complete survey results from over 6000 respondents are available at www.everything2000.com. Other E2000 results show 34% are considering some form of travel, with selections of dining out, dancing, and US and international travel as primary choices for what type of activities are considered for New Year's Eve 1999. 43% indicate a street/outdoor or major event for that big night. Other results show 84% of respondents believe the Y2K computer date crisis will impact their lives, while 38% believe the stock market will crash just prior to Year 2000.
