Everything2000 marks the 1000 day countdown to year 2000 with results of millennium surveys

DATELINE: SEATTLE

April 2, 1997--Everything2000, a comprehensive resource of millennium events, organizations and information, announces online survey results in time for the April 6, 1000 days to 2000 milestone. The web site at http://www.everything2000.com has been polling visitors on millennial subjects since launching last December 17. The results coincide with E2000's introduction of the segment, "1000 DAY COUNTDOWN." This section highlights the 1000 days to 2000 commemorative activities taking place worldwide.

Of the thousands of visitors to Everything2000, those responding to questionnaires indicated the millennium will be a significant moment in their lives and many plan to celebrate New Year's Eve outside their home country.

Results indicate a trend toward international travel for celebrating the arrival of 2000. When asked what plans they would consider for New Year's Eve 1999, 48% selected international travel and 43% said dancing.

Respondents indicated the new millennium as an important milestone and goal setting moment. About half of the respondents, 49% selected the turn of the century as significant or very significant. As for goals, 47% percent said they plan to set a "new century" resolution. But it appears they'll be doing it as most people do, just before New Years. When asked when they will set a "century resolution" 41% said 1999. Health and financial priorities were the top selections with results of 47% and 41% respectively.

Are people really planning ahead? With countdown at 1000 days, 72% of the respondents have not made plans for New Year's Eve 1999. 42% said they will consider making special plans for New Year's Eve 2000, as opposed to 36% who said they would not be making plans to bring in 2001 -- the year the actual millennium begins.

As for predictions, 36% said something momentous was going to happen on or around year 2000. And Vice-president Al Gore was leading the presidential prediction poll with 20% of the vote. Hillary Clinton has received 3% so far.

Everything2000 tabulates visitors choices on millennial subjects. Visitors submit answers and instantaneously see posted results. Section survey results are available on the site.
